The initial idea in a designers head is always perfection. Unobstructed by the realities of cost, production targets or logistics , this initial vision is the best that it can be. As soon as the idea enters reality, however, it invariably gets hindered by these realities.

Cost becomes a factor. Time becomes a factor. Scale becomes a factor. Decisions are made to simplify details, reduce labour costs, substitute materials, or move production further away. Each of these choices pulls the finished garment further and further from its original intent. Compromises are made and perfection is lost.

We work in the opposite direction. The design is not something that can “hopefully survive the manufacturing process”. From the first drawing through to the finished garment, it is the constant reference point at every stage.
